Description
Alone/Together
Rountree Gallery announces Alone / Together, an interpretative dance performance choreographed and performed by Mary Mailand Schlichting, a Minnesota-based performance artist and choreographer. Alone / Together is the closing event for The Drift & Sneak Peek, the successful exhibit of local artists.
Blending movement with emotion, Alone / Together explores the tension between isolation and community, struggle and resilience. Through expressive choreography, Schlichting reflects
on how individuals endure hardship yet find strength through connection.
“When struck with times of strife and injustice, the darkness can engulf, smother, and suffocate, like quicksand slowly swallowing you whole. That pain can make you feel isolated, helpless. But we are not alone. Our neighbors, our communities are what keep
the heart of hope beating. Keep reaching out your hand, to those who can help you and to help others in kind. Not alone, but together do we keep moving forward”.
-Mary Mailand Schlichting
A seasoned artist known for her evocative performances, Mailand Schlichting has presented work across the Midwest, using dance as a means to communicate complex human emotions and societal themes.
Community members, art enthusiasts, and supporters of the performing arts are invited to experience this unique and thought-provoking performance. Admission is free, and all are
welcome.
