Indigenous Peoples' Day Lecture
Presented by Moira Villiard
Moira Villiard (pronounced "Miri") is a multidisciplinary artist who uplifts underrepresented stories, explores the nuances of historical community intersections, and promotes healing spaces through public art across the Great Lakes. Her work includes murals, digital animation, illustration, community events, and exhibitions. She is illustrator of the 2025 children's book Ishkode: A Story of Fire. She grew up on the Fond du Lac Reservation and is a Fond du Lac direct descendant. Her art has earned awards, including the McKnight Community Engaged Artist Award and a Bush Fellowship. She currently pursues a Master of Human Rights in the Humphrey School of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.
