Description
Mine Day
Mine Day commemorates the anniversaries of the opening of the Mining Museum (1971) and the Bevans Mine (1976). Celebrate place-based industry with this classic family festival of bluegrass music and Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM)! Join us for a backyard bluegrass music festival featuring Holy Crowe, Prairie Lights String Band, and Genesee Ridge Band. Spark a lifelong passion for rock and mineral collecting with earth science games and activities available all day. Special UV Light Prospecting Mine Tours will be offered at 10 and 11 a.m. Blacksmithing and other industrial craft demonstrations celebrate the pioneering spirit of ingenuity, inquiry, enterprise, and development that shaped our nook of the Driftless Area.
